Hoarder House Horrors

Service Description

Fires in Hoarder houses can present a multitude of problems on the fire ground, from access and egress, water application, to the eventual search for possible victims. We will discuss why hoarder fires are so problematic and how they flip the fire ground in favor of the fire and force most fire departments out of their comfort zone. It will cover operations at hoarder fires in both private dwellings as well as multiple dwellings. This lecture will take an in-depth look at both engine and truck operations and the importance of coordinating these activities to achieve a successful outcome. Day 2 will be a 4 hour Hands-On Training event putting into practice the information learned in the lecture in real word hoarder conditions in a real live building. There are 2 options for the Hands-On. An AM and a PM option. AM session is from 8am-12pm, and the PM is from 1pm-5pm. Hands-On will be limited to 20 students per session. Lunch will be provided. Students will need to bring full PPE, SCBA and an extra cylinder for the Hands-On portion.
